About Karen

Voted best Mom on Earth for 54 years running, Karen Elizabeth Parnell is a Swedish-American Hawaiian writer and retired social entrepreneur who now lives and writes on Fidalgo Island, in Washington State.

Her first book, Puʻu Kahea — Memory Scrapbook 1950–2025, is a photo companion to Puʻu Kahea — The Hill of Calling, her forthcoming book about a magical place on Oʻahu’s Waiʻanae Coast.
